Spring is All About the Coveted Canvas Classic for Kids Foot Locker

March 17, 2009 by

NEW YORK, March 11 / — Who cares if the groundhog saw his shadow… you know spring is on the way when your kids trade in the video games for a one-on-one with the jungle gym and the swing-set. Another sure-fire sign is the resurgence of the springtime staple — the canvas sneaker.

Converse has set up shop at Kids Foot Locker this spring with bright colors and new treatments for the classic Chuck Taylor.

Since the introduction of the first basketball sneaker in 1917, Converse has brought us countless variations of the famed Chuck Taylor All Star. Originally designed as a basketball sneaker, this shoe has become a timeless favorite in casual footwear, resonating with adults and trickling down to children of all ages.

“Spring is the perfect sneaker season,” said Jeanine Zocks, VP of marketing for Kids Foot Locker. “Even with its year-round appeal, the Converse Chuck Taylor has become a springtime favorite with its lightweight canvas upper, stylish colors and updated detailing.”

Kids Foot Locker is stepping up with a variety of exclusive styles of these coveted canvas classics. This spring, don’t be surprised if you’re seeing double, as Converse is doubling everything from the sole to the upper to the tongue. It sounds complicated, but it really isn’t. Simply by adding a second tongue or upper to the sneaker creates dozens of new styles and color combinations.

High-tops and low-tops are embellished with new treatments including painted mid-soles, painted grommets, and color coordinating laces. White-out uppers are another popular trend in children’s footwear this season, especially in easy-to-clean canvas.
