ORGANIC BEAUTY BRAND BUBBLE & BALM HAS BEEN SHORTLISTED IN SIR RICHARD BRANSON’S GLOBAL ‘SCREW BUSINESS AS USUAL’ COMPETITION

August 30, 2012 by

The UK first 100% Fairtrade body care company, Bubble & Balm has made it into the Top 50 of the Sir Richard Branson’s global competition for Ethical Entrepreneurs, run by his non-profit foundation Virgin Unite. Over 500 entries from across the globe were submitted into the competition, including an idea for a solar powered football, the world’s most ethical pants and a train carriage that allows passengers to share ideas on how to make the world a better place. Sir Richard and his non-profit foundation Virgin Unite have been running their ‘Screw Business As Usual’ competition, encouraging and enabling people from all over the world to share their ideas on how they are a successful business that is a force for good, helping the planet or communities in some way or doing things a bit differently from other businesses.

Bubble & Balm is an excellent example of an ethical business that is looking after the planet and communities. Committed to excellent goods that only use sustainable production methods and ethical partners, Bubble and Balm ensures that beauty doesn’t come at a cost to animals or the environment:

·         Bubble and Balm only use plant based ingredients and nothing that comes from or harms animals

·         Added to that, they make a monthly payment for their palm oil from an ethical source that operates within the roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil’s strict guidelines for ethical and socially responsible purchasing of palm oil

·         Their packaging is recycled and production methods are based in the UK with as low a carbon footprint as possible

·         They support producers in developing countries by sourcing fairly traded ingredients, as well as local manufacturing by choosing British suppliers and partners

B&B  luxury soaps are made in the UK using a blend of natural plant derived ingredients, including coconut oil, glycerine and essential oils. Their amazing handmade translucent bars of soap are gentle on the skin, long-lasting and do not crack or go ‘mushy’ and their liquid soaps provide a rich, gentle and effective lather.

Sir Richard said: “When I first thought about writing Screw Business as Usual, I never imagined the level of positive response it would generate. The sheer number of incredible ideas submitted to the competition has been truly overwhelming. These entries are a great example of how people are helping to truly screw business as usual to create a better world.”

Sir Richard and Virgin Unite thank all entrants for their ideas, some of which will be featured in Sir Richard’s follow up book to Screw Business As Usual.
